i have 4 small 3-4" BPs in a 20g with a pictus cat, when i got home tonight i looked in the tank and there were about 30 eggs layed on the side of there coconut cave, iam not sure how long they have been there sence i havent looked at the tank realy good for a week(bissy moveing:nilly: )about half have gone white and i know almost all BPs are infertile but was wondering if theres any chance of fry and if my pictus will eat the eggs?(iam thinking it will yes)has anyone bred BPs??

true there is a chance of it being fertile by your male bp.. a chance of .1 percent of a 100 :grinno:

If these BP s are always fertile how do the guys at the LFS always have babies for sale?I tried breeding my female BP with a male RD and he ended up killing her over night! How do you breed these guys?

BP are hybrids ( cross breed between serverium and red devil). The males are usually infertile the females are usual fertile. I have breed my BP with a flowerhorn several times (Have two batches now ) have heard them being breed to convicts, firemouths, and other cichlids

So you just have to re breed them with a devil or severum if you have a female BP?When i tried introducing a male RD he killed her overnight so now I just have a big BP male.

Female BP will breed with a lot of different cichlids. Here are a few: Convicts( produce jelly beans), flowerhorns( thay say will produce kamfa) firemouth( never seen one but have heard of it from the lfs guy). I have some flowerhorn/BP fry now that I am growing out.

Do you have some pics of your fry??and would you consider getting rid of some so i could try and breed them back with mine down the road!If not ill try with my convicts..

I will try and post pictures tonight. I don't know anything about shipping and I am in Alabama. They are a lot of flowerhorn keepers in Cali so it should not be hard to find a flower horn male to breed with BP female all Male bp are infiritile. A convict male will work great with a female blood parrot as long as the parrot is not a lot bigger then the convict.

your chances of spawning the bps is low the males are at a high rate of being sterile but a male of a true speices can knock up a bp female with pretty good results,so in conclusion most male bbps are sterile while most female bbps are fertile, hope I helped!
