Hey guys :)

In my hope to comm Odoes with Orino cichlas, I was wondering: Which of them will have the fastest growth rate at equal feeding?

I might be getting the Orinos smaller, and I would hate to see them become snacks, with how hard it is to come by here...

Any input appreciated. :)

Idk about the growth of bass, but I believe they ultimately grow larger, so that may be a problem in the future.

If what I know of Odoes is true, they both max out at 24" though, it's unlikely either reaches that size

Odoe reaching 24"? Never heard of that one, though I did read up on someone claiming they had I think a 28" one once but it sounded ridiculous to me. I didn't believe it. Otherwise others would have experienced it, and he showed no proof, such as measuring tape or giving so,etching to compare it to.

Odoes are said to reach 28" in the wild but I've never seen pics of any that big. Odoes start off growing fast and then slow around 7-9 inches....if the odoe doesn't eat them when they're small, the bass will eventually outgrow and eat your pike.

Yeah, that's what I'd read, much bigger than what can be achieved in the hobby.

Well, I guess it can work while the 250 is in the works... Hopefully within the next few months.
But sadly not doable long term uh? :/

Thank you :)

I have a big single specimen Odoe, female, comfortably 13" now and very thick set.
I've had her close to a year and she has shown no aggression to tank mates, especially a couple of small geos and small clown loach, both species around no more than 3". She could take them down in a heart beat but never has touched anything. I find her personality quite placid really, cautious of all tank mates, whether bigger or smaller than her.

Bass on the other hand I wouldn't trust with anything that could easily fit in their mouths.

I think it's worth a try with a large enough tank to give them all plenty of room. Personally I would aim to start with Odoe slightly larger than the bass

My 3 Inch peacock bass got outgrown by my wolf fish :( needless to say a 4 inch wolf fish can eat a 3 inch peacock bass 2 for that matter so if the odoe outgrows the bass first or vice versa similar outcome
