i have 3 odoe about 12cm but they only eat live fish and small frogs,
what is the best way to make tham eat non live

there's a few great threads on MFK regarding this. one is for Payara. I dont imagine it's much different, if one can get payara off live, odoe's shouldn't be too difficult. Basic idea is to starve them i think. like with my trop gars, starved them for a couple weeks and they started eating pellets with the koi!

for odoes, mine have taken a liking to meal worms and crickets. accidently found this out cohabing an arrowana with them. crickets float so may be try crickets first and then floating krill pellets?

better let the experts chime in. I've yet to purposely ween any fish off live.

I've only had mine for a few days and I have it eating a mix of live feeders and frozen krill. It would touch the krill until it hits the filter and bounces back down into the water (looks like its swimming).

Hope that helps.

We'll i might just be lucky but mine eats pretty much any thing

Try starving it a little wait around 5-7 days with out food then add some kind of meaty food like Krill, chopped fish fillets or shrimp it helps to toss it in rather hard alot of times some thing splashing into the water helps excite the fish and trigger a bite

I have had great results by placeing foods such as krill, shrimp, thawed lace minnows, cut smelt in direct flow of a power head. May take 4-5 days of starving but as soon as 1 starts eating it seems to spark competition and the rest should start to eat soo also. Good luck.

i dont know what else is in the tank. but when i get new fish and they are on live, i always think it helps when they see other fish eating frozen or pellets. it kinda lets them know its food and then they start eating it. ive gotten fish off live this way and gotten other fish to start eating pellets this way too.

just a suggestion

My Odoe has eaten frozen food since the day I got him. He eats shrimp and silversides.
