Odoe pike eating beef heart???

So I was feeding the fish in the 180 today. Bass and pike always get frozen krill but I have a lei x shovelnose that eats beef hearts. Put the beef heart in the water and to my surprise the odoe took it and devoured the first cube. Is this something they will usually take ? Just kind of surprising because I always here of them taking dry krill and frozen. So far he hasnt taken pellets.

Yes. It makes up a huge part of their natural diet. In the wild, Odoe are known to attack cattle that cross rivers, enter their bodies through cavities, and eat their heart.

Seriously, beef heart is 60s old school fish food. IMO No place for it as a staple nowadays. Pikes will eat anything you drop in front of them. Mine even attack snails that drop from leaves...

They will eat anything that they see others eating. It's not out of the ordinary for him to take it. If fed pellets only for a couple of weeks, more than likely he'll except that also.

That's funny lol. Beef heart was actually for the catfish but i could understand your point of view.
