My odoe has the really raised teeth type part by the front of his jaw sticking out on both sides! Is this normal or is something wrong?

Here's a pic I found of one close up, I'm on my phone and couldn't circle it so I had to put the text on the actual part I am referring to. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1389983116.766228.jpg

dang

Yes it is normal. It is like a skin flap and both my big guys had it but isnt very noticeable in a smaller odoe. They usually hang down as the fish swims(almost always)

My guy has the same thing, but DAMN! Shane and Bryan it looks like you've got some serious monsters! Do you know how big they are?

Not to derail but mine were 15" and 17". Very cool fish and get really colorful at big sizes. Pics didnt do justice

Yeah it's normal, most pike characins have it. It is used to help get and keep prey facing head first as opposed to sideways.

As long as it's not going to affect him I'm happy, it wasn't there when I got him that's why I was worried something was wrong
