My two monsters of three. I couldn't come up with a witty name for my scomb lol.

At the moment;
Gatf is 5.5 - 6" being pellet trained, starvation period started on august 10th, shedding new teeth, no interest in any food.
Scomb is 6 - 7" being pellet trained, broke and took a pellet, just once since august 10th but nothing else.
Odoe is 3.5" readily accepts shrimp, tilapia, and blood worms. Pellet training shouldnt be too hard for this guy.

They housed in a 75 grow out, with 3x 4.5" albino tf barbs and 3x 2.5" red tail tf barbs as temporary teacher fish. Set up is a fluval 305, ehiem 2217, 2 sponge filters, and a fluval sea cp4 1375 gph circulation pump. Its set up to have dead zones for resting spots and not as one big wave pool lol.

Initially I set up the tank for the gatf and scomb only until i could get a bigger tank sometime in the new year.
Then came along the teacher fish, albinos first, who only ate food that got blown to the bottom of the tank. I figured they gotten used to sinking pellets at the LFS, so I picked up the 3 smaller redtail tf barbs and they ate from the top which was perfect, exactly what I needed. A few days ago I got the odoe as a present and fell in love with the teeth and colours on this guy.

After searching through the many odoe threads here it seems odoe and gatf only get along when they are young in the wild and live in almost opposite environments. Being as young as it is adapting to the tank shouldn't be too hard for him as he grows.

All fish have been getting along without any signs of aggression so far. The gatf does like to swim right up the odoe time to time though but nothing has happened. Other than that they hover side by side in the current and I'm hoping that it'll stay this way.

This will be their update thread instead of me starting a bunch for each fish and each update.

Anyone who's kept gatfs and odoes together before please share your experiences and expertise please.

It's easier to acclimate gatf to no flow than the odoe. Odoe are known To jump with flow. Also a lot of atf keepers claim their atf to be more skittish with flow. So reduce flow if you notice it bothers anyone. Otherwise your fish will likely not be as happy as they can be.

The gatf was skittish at first, hiding in the darker corner of my tank and swimming against the glass every time I walked by to check on it. Since I added the barbs and circ. pump he's way more calm and doesn't dart when I walk by anymore.
If I do notice any issues or the odoe starts jumping I'll unplug the pump right away.

hope everything works in your favor
Thanks! Really hope so too lol.

Update:
Day 11 of starving period, the gatf gave in and had some store bought frozen anchovies. The scomb still hasnt eaten since the first time taking a pellet 4 days into starving period. As for the odoe pike, this guys a mini monster eating shrimp, tilapia, and anchovies. At this rate the odoe will outgrow my gatf faster than I wanted lol. Still no luck with the pellets for these guys yet.

Odoe can be real mean man, watch him if he outgrows them... I had one at 14" that beat a giant snakehead also around that size half to death, those teeth can inflict some serious wounds...

Yeah I will have to, he's an aggressive eater, wouldn't be good if he decided to turn on his tank mates. What was the growth rate for your odoe, closer to the .5" or 1" per month?

Pellet training day 12, the gatf took shrimp for the first time! I think the anchovies broke him lol. I soaked the shrimp with anchovies and he just swallowed them up. The scomb swam by the anchovies and pellets more than usual today but didn't bite, shouldn't be too long before he gives in too! I have to admit its a pretty satisfying win even though they're not on pellets yet. Safe to say no more feeders from here on out.

Yeah, he went from 2-14+" in under a year, problems started when the channa kept taking mussels from his mouth... He just snapped, I sold the channa he then realised the damage he could do and turned on others...
I then sold him at 15-16".
There's a thread of mine somewhere showing the damage to the snakehead.
Don't odoe in the wild predate on ATF at first until the ATF out grow them and tables turn iirc?
