Probably the Poly section
I'm looking for some more prehistoric looking monsters for my planted tank, wondering if odoes would work for me? its a densely planted 125 that currently houses a few 3" polys (delhezis and an albino senegal), a 13" ropefish and 4.5" IT Datnoid along with 3x 6-7" Balas and a half dozen or so old rainbow fish from when I was breeding them. Im hoping to find some more aggressive looking predators to replace the rainbowfish with and the odoe's are really intriguing me. If theres something else you can think of that would be better im open to suggestions! Thanks!

I think odoes would work good for your set up, the balas might be a double edge sword, because they can help your odor feel more at ease and get him to eat other things than live food, but there is also a chance he might be aggressive towards them after he gets settled.

Okay. Good to know. I heard odoes are less aggressive in groups is this true? Could I fit 3 if I could find them for a decent price?

5 odoes is to much for a 125 honestly. And 18" width is pushing it, as they are fast, and they have potential to hit 12" pretty easily if taken care of properly ime with my female. The odoe will likely predate on the rainbow fish, and the balas will be fine with it, there will be some aggression, but shouldn't be to much, but that depends on your specimen. And as for the polys, I'd be careful because the odoe could outgrow and eat them as they are little and skinny, and I know datnoids grow slow, but I think it'll be fine.

Alright good to know. Rainbows are fine being feeders. They are old breeders that I am slowly getting rid of. Odoes don't seem to be easy to find so I figure I've got some time to grow out the bichirs

A few place I know that do carry them at times are Petzonesd.com, aquascapeonline.com,and bluegrass aquatics.com there may be more but those are a few places I know off the top of my head, check if your local LFS can order them per request.

You can try barracudas, I like red tails look more but yellow tail gets bigger which may be what you need due to the datnoid

alright ill check out those websites. most won't ship out here right now. its been above 25º F once in the last week or so. It will probably be a month or two at least before ive got them found and purchased.
