I seem to be having trouble with my 180. A couple days ago my 2' silver aro jumped out of the tank while I was at work and died. Since he went, my Odoe (who apparently REALLY liked having a big Silver to swim around with) has gone completely suicidal on me! I've only been home a couple hours and I've heard him slam into the glass lid 3-4 times. His nose is completely raw, and it looks like he may have damaged his top jaw.
I moved my smaller silver into the 180 (a MISERABLE process which seems to have initiated a slight case of DE already damnit) after an hour of watching my Odoe look around for someone to swim with. As soon as I put the Aro in, my Odoe went straight to his side and started swimming next to him. It was almost cute.
But then 30 minutes later, the Odoe smashes his face into the top of the tank. What the hell is going on? I have noticed that he seems to be hitting the same spot over and over again. It's the back of the glass canopy, where the plastic overhang is attached to close the gap. The spot he's hitting in the tank is located between the two air stones I have against the back wall.
Please, if you have any advice on how to calm this psycho down, or have any ideas as to why he might be doing this, it would be greatly appreciated. I have no interest in losing two of my favorite fish in one week.
