Got home from work today to find the return shut off valve on my Odyssea leaking. After pulling it apart and finding no obvious cause, I decided to temporarily eliminate it. The hose return to the tank would not fit over the output directly, so with a few bits from around the house and a quick trip to the hardware store... I made a temporary fix. I will be adding in a proper ball valve in the near future, but for now, no more leaks.

Lol looks like my eheim. One of my valves snapped off in a similar fashion.

Next canister I buy I may just plumb my self and toss the supplied tubing/fittings away

Looks great

Was it leaking from the where the entire valve unit connects to the canister or from the rotating "on/off" lever?

Other than your issue with the valve, are you happy with the filter?

Im looking to replace a couple older canisters and I cannot justify dropping hundreds on a fluval or eheim.

Ive been looking at this one

Yes, except for the valves, it seems pretty solid. I would buy a better set of hoses and inline ball valves before setting it up tho'.

I have the 700 and 500.....love 'em

Do you know what size approximately the hoses are?

I have rigid 1/2" pvc that goes to 1/2" tubing permanently affixed to the back of my 40g stand. Sort of a dual canister manifold I'm working on.
