60 bucks on ebay, thought i'd be saying about 100 over an eheim. since i'm a college student with no job, value is important. i've heard good things about jebo and stuf, so i thought, why not?
it was quiet at first, but got a little noisier, not too bothersome but definitely noticeable since it was in my bedroom. the filter design meant half of the sponge media didn't get adequate water flow, but my params were okay. the flow, advertised as pretty high, was pretty decent, actually, especially with all the head.
well, today, 2 months after i got it, the damn thing BROKE!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS MODEL. the lid broke because the intake hose to the filter was parallel to the ground, and when it was full of water the weight in the 1" ID hose was enough to stress and break the plastic lid of the filter. here is a picture of the damage:
i'm not getting an eheim and never looking back. i thought all you guys on here were crazy for spending 200-300 bucks on a fish filter. i never thought i'd spend 6 dates worth of money on a thing that filters water but gosh darnit, i've learned my lesson. you get what you pay for. i've never regretted buying something that was more expensive than the cheaper, no-brand kind. blargh.
now i'm stuck with no backup filter, using a sponge filter and doing a ton of water changes daily. blahhh.
