Has anyone ever gotten these filters or tried them out? Curious just how well they work. Would be nice to have a UV Sterilizer WITH a filter. . .

This is an all-in-one external canister filter for any freshwater or marine aquarium. This item includes all the parts, media, and accessories you need right out of the box. No extra parts needed. The included UV 9W sterilizer removes algae and harmful organisms. The powerful and strategically placed pump allows for super silent operation unlike conventional top mounted pump.

Flow Rate: 700 gph (Recommended for 75 to 120gal aquarium)
Unit Dimension: 11.50" Diameter x 20.00" Height
Parts and tubing adds 4" in height
Extra large filtration capacity
Integrated UV 9W Sterilizer
Suitable for freshwater and marine
All parts are included

well i havent tried that one but i have the cfs 500 and its the best filter i have ever owned. i know i didnt answer your question but its just a reference being i have the model just below it

It doesn't seem like 9 watts is going to do anything with that flow rate, but nevertheless I have been eyeing this model since I saw it come out. Don't know if I want to take the plunge or just buy another trusty FX5.

Nganasty ~ How long have you had it? What size tank you got it on? Thinking of puttin it on my 29gal. for a quarantine tank. You think too much flow?

I found a planted forum where they are having a 13 page review on the cfs 500, seems like its a great filter. They having problems with the valves connectors breaking off, page 6, post #s 78 and 80 show you a quick way how to fix that problem though.

I agree that the uv seems undersized for the flow. Most standalone 9w UVs have a flow rate of about 50 GPH so that the exposure time is long enough to actually kill the algae and parasites. This is why they have circular passages so it takes the water longer to flow through them.
