So i was working on some bbq tables/cabinets today i nd needed to shave some overhang off the corners, so what do i do but grab my saw and do it.

now i have done this tons of times before and never really thought anything of it, but realized that this is probably not the way the manufacturer intended it to be used. Hence the safety button i have learned to push with my palm and the pesky blade guard that gets in the way unless i hold it back:screwy:.

i have seen some good usage of tools around here and just thought i'd share (a router "table" comes to mind;)) and hope to see maybe some other "off label" tecniques.

P.S. NO the bandage on my hand is not from said usage;). however i guess it could be off label use of a door.

I never knew that was considered wrong. I have done that several hundred times. What other normal around the house tool would you use? I mean not everyone has a router. And you can never get a good edge with a jigsaw. Maybe i should post a vid of me taking a 10" skill saw and plunge cutting into the middle of a 1" piece of ply to cut out a window in the middle of the solid sheet. Thats a little nerve racking when it keeps trying to kick back and bite you.:WHOA:

My personal Fav is doing Plunge cuts with a jigsaw... Don't always have the "right" tool handy and have to make due, Plyers as a hammer... Pipe wrench to remove shall we say "tight" nuts that I didn't have a open ended wrench big enough for (was like a 1.75" nut... my normal open wrenches stop at 1.5 and then I only have sockets)

Those would be improper uses... now if we are talking about safty issues... well... thats a whole other ball of wax... it's no wonder I've never won the lottery... I've used all my luck on not killing myself :D

Looks like a normal cut to me also. To make it a little more interesting, try it while flat on your back or while standing on top of a ladder.

My favorite childhood tool was a stick welder you could do everything with it. It was a drill and a plasma torch all in one, and if you screwed up you just welded it back together.

I miss the sound and smell of burning 7018 rods. Don't miss catching a hot one in my boots or shorts though.

Or "chicken tracks" all the way down to the boot! Been there, done that! Oh the smell of burning flesh and hair in the morning! :D
