one issue is the living conditions they require:
fast moving water
Huge space as they dart around quick

their compatibility with other fishes can also be an issue, then being able to eat fish half their size. Also hard for them to be lured on frozen meats and pellets, once they are used to feeders it’s amazing difficult to switch back. Moving them around to new environments also can be quite difficult

I've got a couple, I have an Armatus thats about 7" currently and growing fast and a Tatuaia thats about 8" that I have had about a year.

I lost a scombs that I had had 18 months recently which I am gutted about as it was an ace fish. Eaten by another fish

I'll sort pics of he armatus later and an up to date of the TATT as thats an old pic

What do you feed them?

They eat mainly lancefish, prawns and mussel that goes in for other fish

The scombs was harder to feed in that it had to be floating in front of it to smash from below, the Tatt and Armatus will just take it from where ever ie floor or in the water but the Armatus is just so voracious and bold

I kept a scomb years ago. I miss that fish. Once it was settled in, it seemed to be just as resilient as any other fish. I purchased it only eating live foods, but was able to get it eating frozen tilapia and shrimp within a few days. I used heavy mono poked through the filet and jigged it enough to entice a strike. Once he got a taste of it and realized it was food, I never had an issue.
