I have been thinking we Carolinians need a thread dedicated to just us and surrounding areas. Somewhere we can go for selling or trading. Most everything in the classified is in cali. So here we know its within driving distance or a days shipping. Someone also mentioned yesterday about having a meet also. What do yall think? Should we bookmark this thread and use it?

Don't know why we'd be so special...it'd be nice I guess, nothing really stopping us from doing it. Probably wouldn't ever be a real sticky.

edit: the problem with these, is that they're extremely difficult to manage. I think it'd only be feasible for a buying/selling setup if it were replaced every month. Otherwise it would be near impossible to keep track of whats going on.

I'm all for it. I live in North Augusta, SC. Woot! Makes perfect sense for me! Depending on when the "meets" would be... I might be game!

I lived in Charlotte for 2 years....if you guys have not checked out the fish store Fintastic over by lake Wylie in NC (on the NC/SC border), I suggest you do. I have yet to find a store as good as them in the past few years. Also, maybe that may be a good spot/area for all "yall" to meet. :)

Yeah I stopped by there on my way back from charlotte a few weekends ago. SWEET store. Wish I had one like that a little more local.

I'm in Chapel Hill and haven't really come across any good stores in the triangle area. Most of the fish keeping in this area is geared towards marine stuff. Fish World had some FW stuff but recently closed down.

There's the Raleigh Aquarium Society, which has monthly meetings at the NCSU vet school in Raleigh: http://www.raleighaquariumsociety.org/main.html

There's also a forum specific to the Carolina aquarium community (it's mostly SW related so the FW section isn't very active, but it's useful for the local buy/sell forum) http://www.carolinafishtalk.com/forum/

cool deal... im in raleigh and havent found any good lfs, supposedly there's a couple good ones in the nice part of durham

There were actually two Fish Worlds...the second one (which closed down) had some other word in front of the name.

The other Fish World is also off capitol, has a decent selection & knowledgable staff. They're still majority SW, but they have a pretty good selection for FW. Not many oddballs or monsters, I think they biggest fish I've seen there was a pretty mature Jag that looked like it was a trade in.

Best I've found anyway...
