Hello there. So I have a GORGEOUS MiDevil probably almost a year old or a little older. "He" has a very slight bump on its head and beautiful trails and fins, but, right above the dorsal fin there are 2 dots...holes rather...and one is bigger than the other. From what I've researched and heard that means female. It would be no problem whatsoever if my gorgeous baby was a girl, I just wanna know so Im not calling "her" a him. Am I sexing MiDevil right? Any answer would be great...Thanks so much!

Oh if you look at my icon picture, thats my MiDevil. The fins and what not seem to be of male features...?

thanks, we pretty much found out i think - i was getting her to come up to the surface of the tank, and from the looks of it, it was a girl. my boyfriend looked it up and then caught her in the net and says, "yup, its a girl!" we're proud parents of a girl lol.

above the DORSAL fin? you mean like holes in its dorsal fin? thats just damage from something, when people talk about the female having a "hole" larger than the other one we are talking about the anus and genital opening holes lol, if you look at its private area right before the anal fin then if its female it will look like oO and if its male it will look like oo. other than that there is really no way to tell visually whether your midevil is female/male

I'm not an expert but from taking a quick look at some pictures(it's called research), there will be 2 things to look for, the anus and vent. The vent on both males and females will be bigger than the anus, however the male will be more elongated or "sharper" co while the females will be more on the round side Oo.

I hope that helps.

P.S. You should read up on which fins are which again. :)

P.P.S. Congratulations on your female! Are you naming her now?

Venting is the best way to sex it and with large fish like this its quite easy. Just look to see if it's pointy or more round/blunt.
