Oh the power of pothos and Live rocks.

So for years I have battled Nitrates. 20PPM out the tap

I reported a few weeks ago that I finally got my tank down to 20ppm A pretty big deal to me using just Pothos, Today I found it down to 10 ppm. Now it took almost 3 months of root growth to get the nitrates this low.

Well 3 days ago i started my first fowlr tank with all used live rock and sand, in those 3 days nitrates went from the 20ppm from my tap to 5ppm or 10 ppm closer to 5ppm.

I am just excited never seen these colors on my on nitrate test just so freaking awesome.

Never new live rock reduced nitrates, always was told I'd need a protein skimmer.

I have both but live rock and the oxygen starved bacteria that eats the nitrates

LR is great for reducing nitrates. I just recently added a skimmer but my bioload is so light it's not doing anything. I would not be using that tap with 20 nitrates to mix sw though, I'd get a ro/di system or buy ro water.

i am an advocate of pothos too... plus other plants that thrive in flowing water.

OP, can you post how your pothos set up look like!
