I am in the process of moving and am playing with the idea of an ohf. I am holding fire on ordering my tank before i can decide on filtration. It will be a 8x4x2 glass tank and I had intended on sumping the tank but have never used one before and although i can figure the pros and cons it scared me to death.

I currently have two fx6 and a 4ft trickle filter on my current tank and they are doing a great job.
My question is is anyone else using an ohf on there main tank? If so any input and pics would be great

As said it will be a main tank in my living room so would need to look smart.

Not sure if something like these Chinese OHF would be of interest to you -- they're not super bad looking as OHF go (and they also come in black color, which in hindsight I'd probably go with), but as to how smart they look for a living room tank is debatable. In any case they seem to be quite effective alongside Sunsun 704's on my 2 (relatively lightly stocked) 325's, here's one:

I got mine from Lazada here in Thailand but I'm pretty sure you can find on Amazon or Ebay; and they're really quite affordable, good bang for the buck filtration imo.

Thats actually very similar to the trickle filter i have and does a fantastic job just dont think it would be man enough for a 8x4x2 system.

Have been playing with the idea of making a ohf out of this storage box

Decent lenght of 4ft and not to tall so would hold plenty of media and no be so intrusive so that i could make a hood/ cover for the tank to hide it.
