ohio
ok so i was reading the sticky on favorite pet/fish shops and was dissappointed in the lack of good places in ohio. i know there are a few mfks in my area (lima,oh) and lots more around the state but in the sticky there were only a handful of places listed and they were basically either cleveland or cincy. i enjoy checking out all the local places so if u know of any in ohio please let me know, especially if they are driving distance of lima. thanks everyone

Gerber's Saltwater Warehouse in Moraine is about 75 miles from you. Don't let the name fool you they also have a good selection of freshwater. Seem to lean more towards larger fish rather than the one and two inch fry you find these days at chains like Jack's and Petsmart. Friendly knowledgeable staff also.

ya i know of gerber's i have been there many times and like it a lot. i posted it on the sticky to get it added to the list. thanks for responding, i was shocked that it wasn't on the list when i looked thru it

I rarely go to fish stores anymore for that very reason. Aquarium Adventure here in columbus pisses me off with their extremely high prices. And most of the other stores dont carry a good selection. Jacks at easton, in columbus, is probably the best location to get fish and even then, its hit or miss.

not that i have found, i'm from sidney, moved up to lima last year and basically all that is around is jack's aquarium and pets, which the one in sidney isn't bad but def don't get exotics or oddballs lol

When I lived out there (Ada, OH), I went to Jack's in Lima and was able to find some pretty cool fishes. They can order many fishes in, too, so it's worth asking them to do so. They also tend to get the fishes that people decide that they don't want any more, so you can usually get good deals on some larger fishes there, too.

if u liked the jack's in lima then u would really like the one in sidney. they have atleast double the amount of tanks as the lima store

That's why I liked working at Jack's (the Bellefontaine one). I could check out the list of fish available for order since the selection we carried in the store wasn't always that great.
