Well what do you want in it, corals, fish, both? And then for corals, it depends on your lighting.
What size tank?

Things I would recommend for any setup:
-Salt
-RO water
-Test kits
-TDS meter
-A refractometer for salinity, or hydrometer although they are much more inaccurate.

Smaller setups can usually get away w/o skimmers.

I'm just spitting out random things, bc your not giving me a whole lot to go on right now, and there are quite a few ways to do this.

i think it depends most on what size you consider "nano"

i'd go with the biggest one you'd e willing to work with

not to discourage you, but it sounds like you're breaking into keeping salt. just be aware that theres a lot more money spent in setting up and maintaining a marine tank. read up as much as you can about it so your losses will be kept to a minimum

You can get fake corals but me personally am not a fan of any unnatural look, plus you will have to wash the algae off them quite often.
Start off simple, live rock, skimmer, good circulation, and go from there. Patience is the key for SW. Also, what are exact dimensions of your tank??

Just breaking into saltwater I would go with liverock only until you get the hang of mixing the salt, reading refratometer, and get a little experience under your belt. You could keep some hermit crabs, shrimp and maybe a clown, or damsels. I think this is better before diving into something corals too quickly.
Don't get fake corals save your money. Liverock and sand looks way better, and is better for your tank. Fish with live rock is also less maintainence and $. No need to buy expensive lights until you know what coral you want to keep. Also buying used is an option, people are always breaking down tanks and you can pick up live rock, lights, refratometer, alot of the stuff pretty cheap.

thnks :) i have been reading my bf seems to get it more then i do plus its for his 21st i wanna get it setup because he really wants a sw tank ..... so ill try and get some stuff for him :)
and ill try and get as much info as i can :)

Ok what do you consider a Nano reef tank? I have a 10 gallon Hospital Tank that probably has everything a regular reef tank has that is doing fine. It has 4 inches of live sand, Live rock, some baby feather dusters that where a group on the heal, a sand sifting star on the heal, and a Zoanthid Polyp that I'm trying to get rid of Green Bubble alage on. It also has a Damsel just becasue. The clean up crew is crabs and snails. If so, a T-5 light, decent filter, and regular water changes and the whole world works fine.
