they just stay in the corner of my 65 is this because they are stressed should i just turn the light off and throw a blanket over my tank the rest of the night!!!

You should've gotten three or more. 2 isn't the best idea, considering the larger number you have, the better. There are more bodies to spread the aggression around, as I am rapidly learning with my cichlids.

yeah, turn out the light but no blanket please

listen to sushi,,,but they will prolly be skittish for awhile, , turning the light off may help, but i find it better to give them the normal amount of light, that way they get used to it, try a powerhead and a high traffic area..goodluck

get atleast 1 more red... then keep the lights off for a few days. just till they adjust. don't worry about the blanket. they have to get used to you being near them so don't worry when they scatter or stay in a corner

It will take them a while to get used to you, took mine a couple of months, just give them some hiding places. Even now at 4.5 inches mine will still bang the glass if they don't see me coming. RBP's are far less courageous than their reputation would have you believe.

My guy is almost at 4, I've had him near my bed the whole time I've had him (since August) and I still end up goosing the poor thing from time to time. If I remember, I stomp on the floor before I even open the B/R door, the sound lets him know that I'm coming in. He doesn't freak out then.

If you don't want to spring for a third RBP, you could try what we're going to do. We're putting a divider down the center to keep our pair apart.

the ONLY reason I'm not getting 3 and just putting them all in together is because my piranha has a blind eye (found out the other day that if it isn't totally blind, it's pretty close!!) so he can't go into a shoal, but he still can interact with my fiance's piranha through the divider. Since we're going for something that offers high visibilty.

turn off one or two of your other lights DON'T cover them!! Whenever you move that blanket, they'll panic, and they could hurt themselves!! That's the last thing you want. If they're in a group of 3, they'll be braver.

you can easily mix a red with a bad eye with one that is normal. I used to have a shoal of 5 reds. one had a bad eye. and he was never picked on anymore than any of the others
