My LFS has this lil beast labeled as a flowerhorn. After me asking them why it was "FLowerhorn" they said o yea your right, It looks just like a blood parrot. So I stroll to the other side of the LFS and see the regular blood parrots. Both were same price at 18.00 No big deal. But when I look at the parrot labeled "Flowerhorn" I noticed it has alot more exciting colors a different shaped tale and it has JADE eyes. Yes Jade eyes. The fish is so owner responsive, I dunno what the heck it is. So if anyone could tell me what I have and if its male or female? I would really appreciate it.

I think that is just a juvenile blood parrot that has not faded yet. When they're born blood parrots are black or gray and fade to their adult orange color much like some flower horns do.

Male or female, I don't know. You'll have to vent it in order to identify if it's a male or a female. But it is a blood parrot alright. Almost seems like it is being dyed but I cannot confirm since some parrot will fade black or darker and peel out into a new brighter color. Some even turned white...

How do i vent? Do I have to Squeeze it? If a liquid runs out it's male?

Flip the fish belly up, gently put pressure on it's lower belly near the vent. If you see a pointy shape sticking out, it's a male. If its more of a rounded blunt/dull shape then it's a female. Google the pictures and it'll give you a big idea what it looks like.
