ok so i first started noticing that most of my fish act different to certain races
like my dads convict I PUT IT IN A BADLY ADVISED AND THOUGHT OUT TANK AND HE GOT DESTROYED, but my dad brought him back to life. and my dad is african american and i am white
so when my dad comes up to the tank he gets all to the front and glass bangs and all cute and cool but when i walk up he goes behind the rock and just stares like he remembers what happened in MY tank

now my red devil
for me it glass bangs no flare just alot of bitting and tinking
for my dad he will sit in the middle of the tank and flare his gills out but without glass bangin
my mexican friends they are a bit i guess larger then me my devil just goes insane without any hand nere the tank its like he sees them from farther away and goes nuts.
and just yesterday my devil was refusing to do anything to my friends hand nere the tank and he is white is it possible he can tell the diffence between me and my budies i do look verry different then my friends to

and my Tanganyikans only come out to me if any one else approaches they disappear into the rocks oh yea and my buffilo head is the only one that comes out when my dad comes by the tank. but no others only him

so has any body else notice that there fish treat different people differntly if so give me a example like i gave
and also i thought fish forgot in like a week but i feel like my dads convict still remembers me putting him in that tank with a jewel cichlid and hates me for it and this was like a year almost 2 years ago and i see this fish every day and he never comes out to me

yes skin color of course and yes i am mixed i am like realy white with a blond afro

has nothing to do with race, fish are capable of recognizing different people, like when im come up to the tank they all scamper and get ready to eat, when someone else comes by who usually isnt there they all scatter and hide.

ok so ur tellin me that my dads convict reconizes me as something that hurt him? and that is y he will never like me

Most fish associate their owners with food, plain and simple. The quickest way to bring a shy or skittish fish around is to get them to recognize you as the person who feeds them. My fish see me every day, and usually the first thing I do when I go into the fish room is feed every tank. It doesn't take long for them to realize this, and get excited to see you.

Cichlids tend to be skittish around anything that's unfamiliar. This includes not only people, but pets, strange objects, etc. Wave a T-shirt or net or something around in front of your tank and watch them all go insane, diving for a hiding spot. This also explains why new fish are often shy and hide from you for the first several days. Once they get comfortable with something, they tend to settle down. My fish used to be scared of things like siphon hoses and algae scrapers but they have adapted. Now they're completely unfazed.

My fish are terrified of everyone that comes into my house except for me.

My fish are whores they come up to the front of the tank for anyone. They always think they are going to be fed.
