ok so the fish are still at the store so i have a red frontosa already and now i am looking to get the little guys that i just got id there will be six of them. plus the red front will they get alont together cuz isnt the red front just a frontosa lacking in pigment. so yea will they mix how fast do they grow and what foods bring out that nice blue, white color

They should get along. Watch out for breeding between the red and normals when older ( will probably be 3 years before you need to worry about that lol ) I fed mine new life spectrum pellets exclusively and had great results with color. But one of the best things you could do to really make the blue color pop is to get a 50/50 or full actinic bulb ( with a daylight bulb as well). The actinic light really brings out the blue in frontosa.

this is going to be a dumb a@@ question but could u recommend a brand i just looked it up on google shoping, too many types of actinic lights

Coralife makes 50/50 bulbs. Petsmart petco sells them. What type of light do you have now? T8? T12? T5ho? LED?

for my 30 tanginika it is a fluorescent kinda givves a ugly yellow ting in the light. it doesn't bring out any colors what so ever

+1 on the 50/50...i have 2 4 foot fixtures on my 240 and have a 50/50 and a 10000k on each and it really brings out my cichlids colors especially the blues.

+ 1 on the 50/50. It will bring out blues in your Fronts and Gibbs. Sorry just went back and noticed you have and inbreed.

They grow slowly.. need clean pristene water... hiding area and varied diet .. best to use pellets that sink and other foods that sink to avoid bloat and also they rarely come to the surface..remove uneaten food... plan on large tank down the road..they grow up to 16 inches.. also they do best in a colony..but as they mature you may have to separate because they are relatively peaceful except if there are other males of their own species... then they kill..good luck with them

I feed mine sinking pellets and flakes. The big male eats outta my hand almost every day.Can you mix all six stripe Frontosa?def not 6 w/7.These are geographical variants, which probably shouldn't be bred, but what will it hurt to try?If you get good results, you'll be glad you did,if not, then buy a male of same species even if you turn out to have one, because it will be sibling.Seems like the further south you go the bluer they get,but other than that, there's not much difference.
