Ok to set CHE on a screen top?

Ok to set the lamp on the top without hanging it off the side with a CHE or is it not very safe my snake cannot reach the top of the cage.

Is the screen mesh metal or plastic? If the former, then I don't see a problem with it. I've done that for years. Its not like the snake is a gecko that cna cling to the underside of the screen.

i have a themostat on it with a probe so it should be good thanks for the info
