As title states is it ok to use these brass /metal ball valves on the return pump ? Buddy into reef says he doesn't use them bc of ions in his sensitive reef set ups. Are they ok In freshwater systems and does anyone use them ? Thanks and sorry for crappy pic

If its not nsf-61 approved for potable water I would probably pass on it. That being said it probably wouldn't leach anything for long time unless introduced to SW.
 
Your house plumbing is full of fittings like this or similar to this one. The water main in the road is ductile iron and more than likely the water line into your house is copper. Metal is everywhere in common household plumbing

Thanks for the responses guys. Yea I actually own a pipe laying business lol. I know it's all safe for human consumption but was concerned about the sensitivity of my rays. I ran up to the local hardware store and just got a pvc valve for so I could sleep better Thanks again
