In the the pet store
ok so 3 days ago i bought some live plants for my tank. i washed all the plants before putting in there. and today i just saw little worms in my tank eww!!!!! (i have a phobia of worms). i was woundering if those worms are planera worms or something else that might harm my plants and fish. ohh plus you know how when you buy potted plants the plants grow in some kind of fiber that holds the roots of the plants....well yea i left that on one of my plants because i was going to stick that in a piece of driftwood. ohh and one last thing you guys need to know is that when i was taking off the fibers that the roots grow on i saw like a worm that looked exactly like a blood worm but a little longer. im thinking that it might be those worms but the baby ones. please help me. is there anything i can kill them with?

Although i can't help you with your worm problem, since i'm not sure what worms they are... it might help if you could get a picture of them for some of the members here to check out???

Planaria? Garvel vac water change add salt

If it is Planaria, then no need to add salt... just gravel vac since they appear due to mainly over feeding, or left over food... so a good gravel vac, and maybe cut down a little on feedings for a week and it should clear the problem up a bit if not completely...

Its a bit late in the year but look closely at the worms. If they have a forked tail and/or are attaching themselves to your fish they may be anchor worms. These can be handled by various pond medications. Sorry I dont know more.
Good luck.

im scared of worms so i dont even put my hands in the tank. i have a phobia of worms lol

LOL well that could be a problem. This question could help. Are they attached to your fish, or just sort of squiggly clearish-white things in the water?

no they dont appear to be attaching to my fish but they are squiggly and white. they are just chilling on the glass wall and are cilmbing up onto the top of the water. some did get out of the water and are on the dry part of the glass wall just a wee bit above the surface of the water

just do some gravel vacs and feed less. theyll go away if theres less detritus in the tank.
