What type of fish do you have. And is what ok.

personally I've never heard of a blackey bluey cichlid, did the person you got it from tell you any more about it?

I'm really confused as to what you have then. I have never heard of a frontosa called a "chevron" and if it is the same fish thats in my picture I would figure whoever got it would know exactly what it was called.

Do you have a pic?

That would be most helpful indeed. Not all cichlids can handle a meaty high protein based diet. There are quite a few that require a hefty amount of veggie matter in their diet. So its definitely a good idea to figure out what type of cichlid you have and get it on the best diet for it. :)

Chevron cichlid doesn't really ring a bell with any SA/CA cichlids, so going to take a gander and assume its African.

Sorry meant chevron for my snakeheads

No offense bro, but you need to a little better job of explaining your situation. When I first heard that you had a "blackey bluey cichlid" I thought you were joking. Be more specefic and concise in your posts and I bet the experienced members of this board can help you out.
