I bought my first canister filter(Marineland H.O.T. Magnum 350 Pro System) I was very pleased. I loved the way it kept the water clean and the fish were happy. I LOVED the siphon that you attached to the filter itself and it sucked up crap better than any python could. Did I mention the SPEED, SPEED, SPEED!!!!!??????:headbang2:cool-1::hearts::cheers: I went weekend off for the weekend. The water level is fine, fish are fed, water is clean...everything is just fine and I can leave the tank for the weekend. :chillpill:;). I came home and ate dinner with family. BAD IDEA!!!!! I knew I should have taken my bags to my room. NOOOOOOOO, everyone said you can do that later. I came into the room and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....:nilly::swear::swear::angryfire:shocked::shocked::OMG::bs::WTF::duh::jaw-dropp Water level was down. The GREAT FILTER WAS SHOOTING WATER OVER THE TANK AND ON THE CARPET!!!!! THE CARPET WAS SOAKED!!!!!!!!!!! LUCKILY IT HADN'T EMPTIED THE TANK!!!! THE CARPET IN FRONT OF TANK ABOUT THE SIZE OF A MID-SIZE CAR'S HOOD WAS SOAKED!!!:cry::cry: Luckily we had the commercial equipment to get it up and cleaned(Thanks Step-dad (R.I.P.). Of course you know the Magnum had to go. I am debating getting one of these for my small tank. Then, I remember this story and walk away fast. I am telling you that canister filter CLEANED!!! I can laugh now.:ROFL::grinno:

Nothing. The only logic I have is the heater for the house was on heavily because it was Winter. But it shouldn't have dropped the water level that low. After I refilled the tank and started filter no problem. I dropped the water level again to same area and it did it again. So as long as the water was not 3 inches and below the rim, you have no problems.

I had to pull the glass back to have another filter on the other side for water movement. Here's the pic of the canister: Piece doesn't sit low in tank.
