Desperate in my search for a quality local fish store. Please if anyone has any suggestions, it is much appreciated. I've already tried Tanks-A-Lot, Wet Pets, Aquarium Concepts (now out of business), Aquarium Tropical Fish in Edmond. All of which I consider to be below average to way below average. Anyone remember the old Aquarium Concepts before they moved? Something like that if there is anything.

Thanks.

Let me just add real quick that each of these places have very nice employees, all of which are knowledgeable and trust worthy. But as far as selection of freshwater fish goes, none of them can even hold a candle to my local Petsmart. So hopefully that gives you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Used to live in Oklahoma and I can tell you it sucks for Monster fish keepers. There are maybe but a few "serious" monster fish keepers there. the rest are into live bearers, goldfish, and bettas only. Kinda boaring and which is why I did not get involved heavily in the club. Anyway, you pretty much named all the LFS's. I think there was one in Ponca City called T.K. Pets, but thats it.

Yeah, it's slim pickens here. I asked one of the employees at Wet Pets why they dont carry many SA/CA Cichlids and they said there's not much demand here for them. Yet they have an entire room of Salt Water fish.

Come to think of it, all of the stores I mentioned carry much more SW fish than FW. I cant imagine there being such a discrepancy in the demand of SW compared to FW here in Oklahoma.

I feel for you too. I live in Oklahomo as well and all the fish I want are pretty much banned. None of the stores can even order what I want. Some of them don't even know what i'm talking about half the time. I'm always on the outlook for fish I want. I'd hate to have to drive to KS to get what I want.

Yea, I live just North of Tulsa and the selection here is not that great. I did find that the PetSmart at 71st & Olympia in Tulsa has some nice SA/CA cichlids. Our local pet store has tanks, but they are typically empty. Of course, you can order fish if you want. Surprisingly our local Wal-Mart has some nice cichlids from time to time. I have 4 that come from there, and they are great. One is already 4+" in size and very friendly.

I just moved to Broken Arrow myself, from Maryland..BIG difference! I've been searching high and low for a decent LFS and I'm coming up with nothin. :( Is there anything nearby in Missouri or Arkansas? Or will I have to go to Dallas?

Exotic Aquatics and More is the new kid here located on SE 15th street a 1/4 mile west of I35, unit 9 in the warehouse on the north side of the street before High. They are focusing on Africans and snakes mostly. Think of it as another Tanks a Lot. Nice people though, they have a decent amount of used equipment and tanks too. Worth going to see the two 18 ft long display tanks.

There's been another guy talking about starting a store but he hasn't yet.

There is a koi/coldwater place in Edmond, Crosstimber Koi and another in Moore, Garden Ponds Unlimited.

The Reef Shop in OKC for saltwater is still around, not sure on the quality anymore though.

You pretty much named the rest in the first post. Aside from the Petsmarts and Petco (the Norman one not the NW side one).

There is also the local The Oklahoma Aquarium Club - http://tokac.org/

Edit - went to Dallas, went to lots of lfs while there, hardly worth the time and gas.
