Day away from buying either the Shimano Sedona or Sienna and I came across this Avenger for 25 bucks. Should I try it over the Shimanos? First hand knowledge of the avenger would be very helpful, I would have bought it on the spot if I didn't think the spool looked a little small/funny. I have owned an even cheaper Okuma before and had a good experience with it so I have always wanted to see what the next step in their product line had to offer. Any horror stories I should be aware of?

One of my buddies has the avenger and loves it. He fishes mostly salt water, alot of snook, redfish, tarpon and even small shark. It will most likely be my next reel as I love my Okuma ultra light. Good luck with your choice.

Avenger is a quality reel that will hold up pretty well, but personally i prefer the sienna for it's drag system

They didn't have the size I was looking for at that particular Wallmart so I'll head back to the place where I first saw it tomorrow. I was thinking of going with the 30 and they had the much smaller 15.

Now that I think of it would it really matter if I ended up buying the 15? It would technically work for my needs right? Bass, and possibly the rare esox. It may not be overkill but I would imagine it could pull most any fish Id happen on rather than blow up. 30 was my first guess but maybe I'll go small.

dunno the size margin on the avenger off the top of my head but i believe that the 30 is similar to the 2500 size range most reels use, and if so i wouldnt want to go smaller if you plan on hooking up with any decent bass

I wouldnt go any smaller than the 30. I use the ABF 50 for carp and sometimes cats but those are a bit large for bass.
