I picked up a 8' x 2' x 2' tank that leaks for pretty cheap off craigslist and I have some questions. It has no center braces, what is something I could use as a center brace? The glass is very thick either 5/8" or 3/4". Also would it be wise for me to reseal the entire tank or just the corner that needs to be fixed as I have NO experience resealing tanks. Thanks for any help!

reseal the whoel thing you'll be safer and happier in the long run.

As for the top.. Some older tanks had these removable braces I don't know why they did that but they did. the look like a square that got cut in half and they sit on top of the tank. They are really lossly put in place and you'll think they won't hold till you fill it up and the glass starts to bow. Then the water pressure holds the braces in place.

I would get with the person who you got the tnak off of and see if this one didn't have any of this style braces. I have seen at least one guy on here loss a 220 b/c of not having these braces. and he kept popping seams.

I was thinking of doing the whole thing. The guy I got it from got it from someone else and the center braces are unknown I him. I'm thinking of buying some stainless steel and bending it to sit over the top trim to hold it. That shouldn't rust. I suppose I could coat it n something also
