sorry if im posting this in the wrong section but..
im going to be picking up a 100g acrylic tank
but the tank has been sitting there for 5 years + no more then 6.
i tried a leak test on the tank and it was good...
but im scared since the tank is that old sitting there, would there be any chance of the tank falling apart or cracking somehow?..im just concerened lol
would i have to silicone the tank?
thanks
-peter

acrylic tanks dont have silicone...... acrylic tank seams are chemicaly melted together

acrylic has a tendency to get brittle(and yellow) with age but 5 years isn't old enough to do that

Look crefully at all the joints for obvious flaws and excessive Crazing (Fine patterns of stress cracking). If you have neither and it doesn't leak after 24 hours I wouldn't be afraid to run it.

2 socal summers in a shed dried my 125 so bad that polishing it by hand caused crazing... not everyone has this issue but it does happen..

I just picked up a 210 gallon acrylic that is so old that TruVU doesnt even make this dimension tank anymore from what information I was told the tank is around 15+ years old and I have had it full now with water for about a week with no problems no leaks
