Just wondering what problems can develop in old senile fish, arthritis, scales fall off, or do they just turn upside down and die.

depends on the fish really. Some species do not get affected by age based diseases. Old fish become more acceptable to disease and stress. They may stop eating and die or they will just float upside down. I'm sure you can look into it and find a lot of info, I couldn't see scale loss being one but potentially failure for scale regrowth could be a problem

I had some old fish, and they start looking like old people or dogs or horses, thin, emaciated, loss of colour, little activity, and ultimately they just die. Old age is tough for man and beast.

I had a ten year old goldfish grow a giant tumor thing that really messed him up in that the tumor thing got as big as the fish and it finally killed him.

ROFL Ray, older a fish gets more it will succumb to something, just like you. clean pristine water and good diet can add years. or not, they do not get wrinkles, there scales do not flake off. and they do not need a water cane to get around. they just up and die.

I couldn't see my fish died I had a Midas at 15.5" for 6 years and got it at 12" so probably 7-8 years old or even more. He was a beast and never ever got sick and was so healthy. Just had to let him go he got too big

no fault there, why you quote me I am curious.

your post stands on its own.
