hello

I have a question about introducing new angels into my tank.

My tank currently has:
- clown loaches
- tetra
- 2 kinds of dwarf cichlids

all of those are peacefull fellows, but i also have 2 adult angelfish, they are completely grown out and the oldest residents of the tank.
It's a breeding pair and they tend to be quite dominant, they leave the other fish alone, but they do tend to have a fight now and then.

i'm sure its a male/female because they deposit eggs every once in a while (the clownloaches steal them overnight)

now i was wondering if its possible to add 2-3 new angels
I prefer to add small ones, because they are cheap + i like to grow them out.

The tank is big enough and has quite alot of plants to hide in, but i prefer to avoid constant agression.

What size is the tank? An established breeding pair of Angles will not tolerate any new additions unless the tank is very large. As you may know conspicific aggression can be very high when bonded pairs are involved.

Yes smalll angelfish willl be eradicated by the adults. If you really want smalll ones get 5 at least and the pair will have to go because they will attack and harass the new comers until death. In my 50 gallon I half an adult half black that I can not add any angelfish as he will not tolerate it. So he stays in the fifty as the lone angelfish. Incidently he ignores the roseline sharks and lemon tertras and synodontis cat in there.

I would not advise it. The small angels would probably be attacked by the breeding pair.

If you want you could setup another tank and raise the small angels. But I would never introduce them with the breeding pair in that tank.

A bit more information would help to get better advice.

How big is the tank?
What are the decorations?
When you say small angels, How small?
Do you have a picture of the tank?
