Old Fluval 404/New 405 compatibility

I ordered a replacement fluval 404/405 canister from Big Al's only to discover that there are 'old' 404's (blue latches) and 'new' 404's. To get a new canister for an old 404, you must purchase a 404/405 canister with an adapter kit. I found one on eBay for $40+shipping.

Question #1: If I buy a 405 motorhead (for my new 404/405 canister) will all the baskets, hoses, and aquastop transfer over?

Question #2: If I end up replacing the 404 (keeping the parts for my 'good' 404). What are current filtering recommendations? I have 125 gallon with a 'good' 404 and need additional filtration.

Yes It worked. I have one of each and I have switched them both around.
