Well I have an old HOB filter and have had it forever its a whisper power filter... although it looks nothing like the new ones. Mine is Gray and clear with an adjustable flow inlet on the top of the water intake. I can't even find images of it. Anyways, does anyone know where I could get the old filter pads, im tired of making them. Also does anyone know when these came out, I want to say ive been running it for 11 years. I googled the whisper power filter... what comes up is not what I have. Is anyone else using the older ones?

your die out or just got tired of it?

^_^ i have two of those up and still running to this day..they have been passed down from my mother ...they have been running forever..they are now on my out side tanks..one i think the motor is going out it stops once in a while but the other is going strong.

i use polly fill in my hobs

but any filter pad that fits the newer whispers of the same size will work. i think both of mine fit Large pads and one is a 40 gallon filter and the other is a 20

I got a brand new one that was at least 10 years old still in the box and plastic wrap..lol it was in a family members storage!....works wonderfully

I think the new ones are junk, that is mho though. The older ones I have two ( although I tried to use a new filter and it didnt work) The other one I have is also going strong, every few months the impeller goes, and I have to re-glue the mounts to it. Mine to this day are dead quiet, sometimes I think they finally went out... I wish I could buy more of these. Its sweet you found one brand new, they litterally last for decades. Mine 10 gal filter was passed down to me and is older than my son... lol and my sister. Anyone know what year they came out?

You didn't say what size the filter is. What series is it? 1,2,3,4,5; 10,20,30,40,60; EX, Classic? Does it use the Bio-Bag, Filter cartridges, Bio3 cartridge?

Post pictures of what you have.

I have been using the same Whispers for over 20 years. (They are branded Second Nature - before Tetra acquired them - clear amber color with trapezoid shaped filter box) They are good for floating particulates. As far as I know, they haven't stopped making the replacement media (unless you are using what used to be the size 4 & 5 which had x-large filter pads or the short-lived wet/dry). I have all sizes and still find the filters everywhere. They haven't really changed at all--other then the plastic frame inside. The polyfiber is exactly the same as an OLD box of filters I just found a few days ago. I use them only for mechanical - quick to change and clean. I have replaced 1 or two impellers (in 20 yrs), but have no problems otherwise.

You might do a search on Amazon. They seem to have any replacement part for these filters.

you know what Ill post it now the bags didn't fit
