Very first arowana and teacup stingray, circa 1989.
I'm pretty sure it was a 29gal with UGF and a fluval.

If memory serves me correctly when I bought the silver it was about 2 inches with the sac still attached. Grew to about 10-12", never took it out to measure like some people do. :screwy:

Too bad I don't have it anymore, it'd be 17 years old now..and no I don't know if he's still alive and kicking, gave it away to my LFS 16 years ago when I gave up fishkeeping and persued other interests at the time. :naughty:

Hopefully I can find some more old pictures of some old fishes I had.

I remember having 2 snakeheads, albino oscars, wolf fishes, pacus..oh yeah a black aro that jumped out the f'ing tank thru a small gap!

Geez, when I think about it, all that money I spent back then I could've gotten a 125 tank. :irked:

Well anyway, now that I have a house instead of living in a cramped apartment 2 decades ago, finally getting a 125 tank, hopefully 240 further down the line.

I'll post pix of the small jardini that I saved from some idiot. Right now its in a small 10g hospital tank, and has shown a lot of improvement. :)

Thanks, used a Nikon FM2<---Non-digital. :D The only digital camera back then was a Canon XAPSHOT that used mini floppy disks and the resolution was horrible. As a matter of fact I think I still have it. :grinno:

I can't find my original negatives otherwise I'd scan them in directly, but had to scan the photos instead.

Digital photography is great, but you can't beat 35mm SLR's for great resolution. ;)

I ended up hanging on to mine for about that long, well sorta, they are boarded. It is neat that I seem to be close to having the oldest of their kind according to what I've read online. I guess it's like having a horse stabled in another town.

It was only because nobody who wanted to adopt during times I had other interests or moves. Mostly because I thought having them boarded wasn't a good idea at first. I havn't lived with with them for a long time now unfortunatly. It's very possible they may be in a permanent boarding situation as I don't see any way I can rasie enough money to get my own place. But now I simply can't part with them anymore. Hanging on your fish for time frames through good times and bad has it's disadvantages and advantages.

Probably if I ever get my own place, I'll go one way or another. My catfish die and that's it...no more fish and I use the tanks for something else like plants or I'll rescue unwanted common plecos.

Awesome to see some old pics. You're right, would be amazing to have kept the arowana for that period of time.

Thanks man. Yeah, I know shame on me for that. :( But now I'm getting a second chance to start anew. :)

If I remember correctly the baby aro costed me about $10, the teacup I don't remember.
