Hi guys, i used to have a SW tank about a year and a halg ago, anyways i have stored and kept the old live rock, no LFS wanted it, anyways i went to go look at it, and its kinda white and smells realy bad, is there a way i can re-use the rock? and if so can i get the smell to go away?

The horrific stench indicates it's now dead rock lol...Just soak it in hot water for a few days. If it's the new tank it doesn't matter if it makes ammonia, it'll just help it cycle. Not likely that anything has survived on it after all that time though.

Was it stored dry? If so, the organisms on the rock are likely all dead. However, you definately can re-use the rock. I'd just rinse it out, and if the decomposition is really bad, then you may consider letting it sit in a tub of saltwater and just running a skimmer on it for a little while until all the dead stuff is gone, or physically removing as much of the dead stuff as possible. Then you can use it as base rock and seed it with some additional live rock. Give it a few months, and it'll be all covered with coraline again.
