I have to get to the bottom of this. Years ago I had a 55gallon setup and bought 2 pangasius catfish, they ate like piggies in there, and grew 2-3" while being in there. I wanna say 8-9 months ago I built a 180gallon and threw all my fish in there. These cats are atleast 2.5 years old and the biggest one at BEST is maybe 7", and are afriad of all the other fish. They stay in one side of the tank 96% of the time, and during feeding time if a fish is near they ignore the food and swim away.

NOW a day or 2 ago I purchased 2 more cats, but albino, id say 3" but these guys are PIGGIES, not afriad of other fish by them or anything. They see food and they go NOM NOM NOM and stuff their bellies.

So what the heck is wrong with my other guys? They went from being huge piggies in a small tank, to a bigger tank and got afriad? At this rate, my new cats are gonna outgrow my 2.5yo cats in under 6 months.

Iv always been on top of water changes, water is always clean, never ammonia, nitrite and nitrates were 25 or below. Temp is 76.5. I have rocks, drift wood, some fake plants all the things they can hide in. But I got nothing.

SO again, WHY oh WHY are my 2 kiddies PANSIES when my 2 new ones dont care if a 13" fish swims by during feeding time?

my paroon shark is exactly the same way in my pond...especially with floating pellets. if my pacus or RTC/TSN hybrids come to the surface and charge for the pellets, my paroon runs like the wind. HOwever....wen i introduced hikari massivore pellets, my paroon went crazy and went into a eating frenzy no matter which fish was next to him. my advice is to try sinking pellets, they seem to find it much easier to eat and feel safer because they dont expose their bellies. they seem to feel much more vulnerable wen adjusting to floating pellets.

Iv always wanted to try those pellets. I feed floating, sinking and tropical crisps. They seem to somewhat find the crisps on the bottom, but run when other fish try to grab it up. I like my new guys, whatever comes there way they chomp, crisps, pellets, and to my suprise shrimp pellets. Its how I expected these cats to be! Maybe when the albinos get to there size ( a few months) maybe they will ease up again and chow down like their new brothers.
