I went to my local fish store to buy some fish food, and noticed there was this huge funny looking fish. Turns out it was a 10 year old Rainbow Fish someone had dropped off. The store owner gave me a good deal on him, and I popped him in my tank at home.
I've noticed a couple things:
I'm not exactly sure if my tank is quite big enough. It just seems like this guy would do a bit better is a longer tank (I have a 50 bow).
Secondly, he's got some kind of swim bladder issue, but is other wise in good health. He'll swim around the whole tank for several minutes, and as soon as he stops he'll float right up to the surface.
Not sure if I'm going to keep him if I'm not the right match for him, but I'd like to see if I can work on his floating issue at least.
I remember using peas for goldfish to help floating issues, could this maybe help in this case?
Other then keeping good water quality and adding aquarium salt, what else can I do?
