Looked at an old style 180 gallon. The ones with the trim that is purely decorative (no structural purpose) and 3/4" glass. Probably weighed 450 pounds or so!
Bottom glass sits flat on the stand, no raised plastic frame like todays tanks.
Centre brace is glass and there just to support the lids.
Pretty dirty but would probably clean up OK. With it this dirty it is difficult to see how bad the scratches are.

Are there any advantages to these old tanks over the new ones?

He is asking $300 Canadian for this tank....

As long as it is big and cheap, i like :D

Tank only, sound like a good price because the glass alone would cost more

So there is agreement that it is a good deal, and that it should be resealed....

But is there any advantages to these old tanks vs. todays tanks? Does the higher glass thickness make it a better tank or is it just overkill?
