Didn't really know what title to put, sorry.

I'm currently doing a fish-in cycle on my smaller tank.
I was going to do a fishless cycle on my 110 gallon, but I work shifts and keeping up with testing at specific times and adding the ammonia would just be too much and I'm guessing would take a lot longer than what is needed.

I'm running an Eheim 2213 on the smaller tank and will be running an Eheim 2217 on the bigger tank. Would it be okay to run these along side each other when the fish-in cycle is complete? How long would it take approx. to cycle the 2217? And are there any precautions I would need to take before setting up the new tank after using a cycled filter?

Good luck with finding a coherent answer to that.

well i ran my new eheim pro II 2028 on my old 55 for about a week and a half and switched it to my 100 and it didnt take to long to cycle.

Are you asking if you put the new filter on an established tank,
will it seed the new filter?>>>>>>YES
And,
When you put the new filter on the new tank,
will it handle the new bio-load?>>>>>>YES, if the bio-load is less than what is in the established tank.
NO, if the Bio-load is greater than the established tank, you will experience a spike...How large of spike would have to do with how much Bio-load was in the new tank...

You can add the Bio-load slowly and let the new filter mature at a rate that will not cause a spike...

This is going to require you to do alot of testing...

there is a way to add a greater Bio-load on a newly seeded filter and not get a spike however...

I don`t see much benefit over taking half the media from the old filter and putting it in the new, compared to running both filters on the established tank.
As far as precautions go, common sense comes to mind.
Go slow with stock additions. Test often. Be ready to do water changes. Pray to the god Pieces.
Good luck to you.
