rogers, ar.
I have five drilled 40g tanks I got from a Walmart display that had been removed during a store remodel. These tanks are the same tanks that petsmart and petco use for display. I am using them to breed tilapia that will be moved to a 1000g intex pool in my basement for winter then to a pond next spring. I am running a sump with k1 and changing 4% water with well water at least once a week and have had no problems so far other than a few fry making it into the sump. I am a little over a month into this project and allready have over 500 new fry and I feel like I am in an arms race trying to bring more tanks online and expand my capacity to keep up with my breeders. I have 4 female and 1 male blue tilapia. This is just a hobby to fill my freezer ( I hope that dissent offend anyone here) and fill that need inside me to build somthing cool and usefull. Next year I wI'll use my water from daily automated water changes to water a normal garden, not aquaponics becaus I will not be returning the water back to the tanks. It will be solely to kill two birds with one stone and not wast good water or good fish poo. I don't know if tilapia count as monster fish but I love this forum and have gained so much from everyone sharing I wanted to share a little of what I have acomplished with yalls help. Ty!

maybe that's cause apple products suck, who knows ;)

I think its good to see people wanting to keep tilapia, they don't ever get enough love these days! so many intersting varietys and a lot of them can get on well with tankmates and get to good "monster" sizes. I can't wait to see some pics, do you know what species the blue tilapia is?

I am not sure, I got them from a aquaponics guy and all I was told was "blue tilapia" and I got some white Nile fingerlings from him that are in my pond. My blues have tiger strips and the fry have a black dot on there dorcil fin.
