I bought an ebo jager 200w heater off ebay and it is the older model, the one without a temperature dial. The dial is numbered 1-10 with 5 being circled (I guess meaning optimum temperature in Ebo's eyes). I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these models, and if you do what number coincides with approx. 82 degrees? I know that the number suggested would be for the model you had, I am simply looking for a startin point (adjusting requires a screw driver), so that I will not have to take it in and out of the tank.

Just let it sit in your tank for 20 minutes, plug it in, and slowly adjust the dial and let it heat up/cool down until the light just barely clicks on when you turn it up if that makes sense.

so like play with the dial while its in the tank and adjust it using a known temperature?

thats what i do :)

thanks guys, I didnt even think of that lol

thanks stevie! That helps give me somewhere to start!

One of the best heaters ever made!! I wish I would have kept mine instead of selling it with my 55.

Agreed. Put it on 5 then let it sit in your tank for a half hour. Then slowly adjust to desired temperature.

I hope it works as well for me as it did for you!

I THINK the methodology on those heaters is that the median setting is 78*F and every number higher/lower is a degree or 2 difference. At least if you use it in the recommended tank size that is.
