I've only had my bass for a little over 3 weeks but I'm just curious how long other people have had their cichla for! What is their lifespan in aquariums? Different species live longer than others? Pictures of your oldest?!?

^^?

I got a couple of old timers. Oldest is about 5 years old and the youngest is about a year old.

I've heard that they can get up to 15 years in captivity. I've had Argus for a bit over two years. Happy to see folks hanging onto their fish. I feel silly sometimes onto my farmies but dangit I bought them, so it's my responsibility to take care of them! I might not be so attached if there was a more active monster community where I knew they'd be going to capable hands.

Awesome!! Glad to see people have had them for awhile.. My boyfriend and I were talking about how it would be fun to go to Florida and catch one and then we were looking at the fish in the pet store when he was buying food for his turtle and saw that there were peacock bass for sale and immediately we were like no way we need these!! Then I started looking at this forum and since we've gone to shark aquarium and seen the rarer species and I wish I could get them all but just really don't have the money to get a tank to provide a comfy home for them all :( It's already so addicting!
