Oldest Goldfish Died (45)

Koi and carp are closely realted but not the same thing.

Goldfish- Carassius auratus
Common Carp/Koi- Cyprinus carpio

Not only do koi get larger but they also have barbles. Carp also have smaller scales. There are other differences as well but I won't get into it. They two species can hybridize though.

untrue... people who spread this are incompetent lfs... their internal organs continue to grow at a normal rate but their growth is still stunted... but basically they outgrow themselves from the inside out...

Howdy,

Whereas I disagree with the theory that the fish's innards outgrow its wrapping, I agree with the notion that a fish does not adjust its size to the tank.

i mean yea if you keep a goldfish in a 20 gal then you have problems

i mean like if you keep a goldfish in a 100 gal its not gunna grow as big as if it was kept in a large pond
