Oldest Senegal

Was wondering the longest any of y'all have owned a senegal for?... Also whats the average lifespan of a healthy senegal?... Have had mine for 2yrs now and he continues to do very well. My absoulte favorite fish of all time. So much in fact that. Even though I would like to get some new fish. I can't bring myself to risk introduceing anything new.

Mine, I think almost 2 years, got him as an adult. They can reach 10+ years with proper care.

Very cool. Thanks for the info beblondie... You seemed to be a bichir vet. Whats the oldest senegal you've pesonaly owned or have owned in the past. If you don't mind me asking.

On this topic, what sort of age to some of the other species reach? Ornates?

Longevity is not species specific the general avg seems to be 15+ years with reports of some individuals living 20-30 years -Anne

dint some dude have an ornate that lived for 50 years? didnt it out live its first owner and move on to another one?

Read something on the web that the oldest senegal to date was 34 years old. Mine is only 6 months. Photos are about 3 weeks old.
