I aquired what I was told is an Alveno (sp) pleco. I will post a photo later for MFK'rs to confirm that. Mainly I am interested if there is any info I should know about this new guy. I feed my plecos romain lettuce, cucumbers, baby spinich, algea wafers and they pick up any leftovers from the cichlids which are cichlid gold, blood worm, night crawler and krill. I have a heavilly planted 75 gallon tank with two large peices of driftwood (if they need that for nutrition) and a number of caves and an entire corner of stacked lava rock. I also have hiding spots that are very small so that only this alveno pleco can fit in and safely hide
All tank mates are small south american cichlids .75"-2.5". However I have a 7" common pleco? Is the alveno in any danger with that larger common? I'm not worried about the cichlids bc the most dominant (GT) will only chase entruders away so he can eat and when he's done then he leaves and everyone else eats.
