My african (malawi) cichlids do not seem to like the Omega One Cichlid Flakes. They chew it and spit it out. They seem to accept only Tetra or Wardley cichlid flakes.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

Give it some time. Once they realize that's all their getting they will eat it.

Thanks. Was speaking to the owner of a LFS today and he mentioned to me that his fish don't like the Omega One flakes either. I bought some tetra cichlid flakes today and fed them and they ate it up in a heartbeat.

I used to feed my fry (2-3 inches) Omega One Super COlor flakes (they're red). It's really quality food, and they all took it readily (they ate it immediaetly even when I first bought it).

As the previous guy pointed out, just give it time.
Make sure to remove food they don't eat after 10-15 min. I've noticed if you leave old food in the tank, and they try to eat it, they'll spit it out because it's not fresh. The next time you try to feed them, they won't go for it because they'll think the food is terrible.

Good luck :mwave:

well i guess that's a good thing seeing how tetra flakes are usually cheaper lol

cheaper in quality as well... I have found that fish sometimes need to be trained on new food. Hold of on feeding for a week, and then they will go for it. I also stay away from flake all together. Pellets are much better
