I admit, I haven't tried all foods yet and am still researching and trying different things. I am kind of weird about what I feed my fish, but its all based on experiences I've had...my Puffers won't eat pellets and small flakes waste away on the bottom, my Community fish prefer flakes of course, but a few will peck away at floating pellets and the bottom feeders love sinking pellets...and so forth.

I was getting pretty low on flake food and ran to Petsmart to get some Omega One. I tried the Super Color Flakes recently and liked what I saw. The flakes were good size for the most part, they floated for a decent length of time and every species of fish I keep tore 'em up!

In my haste (not to mention I had two Huskies with me) I grabbed Small Cichlid Pellets by mistake. I went ahead and used them. So far, I really like them! They float of course, but after a minute or so, they begin to sink...not all at once, but a couple will begin to drop, suspend for a few seconds, then drop some more. Every fish I had was going after them! (not my bottom feeders of course...but even they went after pellets that completely sank). They are sort of like the best of both worlds...floating and sinking. Plus they didn't crumble when they hit the bottom. Much cleaner than any sinking pellet I have used.

Not sure if you all have tried this brand and type...but of ALL the dried foods I have used, so far, I really like this one!

Thanks Brian, I'll give that combination a try when I get low again.

I usually mix up a variety of offerings...frozen, freeze dried, flake, pellet, etc.

Hell, my fish eat better than I do!
